         Google's Chrome

Google's is always releasing new product that change the way we look at things.  Google's release of their web browser "Chrome" is no exception.  It was released as a beta version in September 2008 and released to the public in December.

Google Chrome is well organized and for the most part, intuitive. The simple interface is not cluttered with toolbars or dropdown boxes and icons, and yet gives users the tools they need. This streamlined look gives more space to the website you are viewing.  Google Chrome even allows users to launch certain webapps in their own window, without the toolbar and URL box, taking full-screen views to a new level.

Chrome is safe and secure, protecting from phishing schemes, malware, pop-ups, and viruses. Chrome warns you if you’re about to access an unsafe website.

PRO's

  1. This browser won't crash you computer.  Each tab runs in its own processing environment, so that when you encounter an error or a faulty website, your open applications are not impacted.  Only the tab having the problem.  (This technique helps prevent malware from installing itself on your computer and also stops one tab from taking control of all others. Once you close a tab, that process is terminated. )

  1. It's fast.  Because each tab runs in its own environment, a slow loading site doesn't slow down your other tabs.
  2. Streamlined Interface.  Very few toolbars and buttons.  Most of your screen is the website you are visiting.
  3. Searching is Simple.  In the address bar, you type either a website address or a search term.
  4. More Control over tabs.  Change the order of tabs, take a tab out into its own window or combine tabs into one window.
  5. Dynamic centralized home page. Shows you snapshots of the top 9 sites you visit most often, list of recently used bookmarks, list of closed tabs, and the ability to search your history, or override the default with any home page you want.

CON's

  1. There is no dropdown bar.  Chrome compensates by pulling up sites from your history, but you might miss it.
  2. No add-ons.  At if you are a Firefox user, you will miss the add-ons.  Google plans on releasing add-ons in the future.
  3. It's not supported on all Operating Systems.  Currently only supported on XP SP2 and Vista.
  4. Multiple Flash animations load slowly.

Google was developed with the intent to improve security, speed and stability than that of existing browsers.   They've done well in all three areas.
