Hi,
It's a new year and new technologies are being released rapidly.  This month we're featuring two great tools designed to make life a bit easier.  Don't hesitate to let us know if there's something you'd like to see in one of our future newsletters.

Superbowl XLII
Living in Connecticut chances are good that you are either a fan of the New England Patriots or the New York Giants.  Both teams have websites filled with everything you'd ever want to know about them.  Or maybe you're like me and you're only interested in the commercials.  No matter who you are rooting for this Sunday, enjoy.

Youmail.com

It’s all about integration these days. And now your voicemail and your email can be integrated.  Youmail.com offers this service for free.  Get your voicemail messages by phone and online, have different greetings for different callers, keep messages forever, ditch unwanted callers and have your voicemail sent to your email.  You might think you don’t need this service, but once you start using it, you won’t want to live without it!

The really nice thing about this is that you can add all your phone numbers to one account.  You can combine your cell, home phone and even your direct line at work, if you have one.  Imagine being at work….and a message is left for you at your home. The message is emailed to you, and you can listen to the message while at work.  You can also forward your messages to friends and family.  If you want to share a funny message your grandson left you or praise from a client that you want your boss to hear….you can forward the message to them via email.  If you are often traveling out of the country, rather than pay for expensive calls back to the US to check your voicemail, you can check them online. Free.

All settings can be accessed online or by calling in.  Record a message via your computer or by phone or use a prerecorded message.  The prerecorded messages range from professional to hilarious.  Your clients would love a personalized greeting that addresses them by name!  Who wouldn’t?!?   There is also “ditchmail”.  You can select a ditch greeting…in which a greeting is played and then hangs up.  It does not allow the caller to leave a message.  This is great for telemarketers or Ex’s.  J

 Get in the Groove
The work environment is not what it was 10 or even 5 years ago. With more powerful software and computing systems, wireless connectivity, and a proliferation of mobile devices from laptop to smart phones, the definition of a workplace now cuts across locations, organizations, and time zones. An office is no longer a room of cubicles or a building. It can be any place we create, share, and store information, and collaborate with employees, partners, and customers, on projects and all aspects of business.

In this new business world, teams of information workers who work together dynamically often have a hard time staying on the same page. Because teams often are composed of individuals from multiple offices, as well as mobile workers, they are forced to rely on a patchwork of tools to work together. These tools may include e-mail, phone, voice mail, file shares, Web sites, and specialized collaboration applications. Together they do not provide what today's teams need to work efficiently.  Many of these tools were designed to support internal company work, and don’t work well for mobile users or multiple locations.

Groove 2007 helps teams in this new environment collaborate easily and purposefully toward their goals and deliverables—without being dependent on extensive IT support, without worrying about how to connect to people and information, without requiring significant training to learn new software, and without being forced to switch constantly from one tool or application to another.

Tip of the Month
Extend the life of your printer
  1. 1.  Clean the inside with compressed air once a month to remove paper dust and debris.
  2. Do not use torn, bent or used paper.
  3. Do not fan paper before loading. It can cause static electricity.
  4. Store paper in a low humidity area.
  5. Use high quality labels.
  6. Replace old and worn rollers.
