Hi,
The dog days of summer are upon us.....Hopefully you are in an air conditioned office or by the pool with your laptop while you're reading this.  Most of us are playing catch-up after going on vacation, or gearing up for vacation by doing as much as humanly possible....I give you permission to take a break from all that and read our newsletter!  Enjoy the rest of the summer!

E-mail Etiquette
In business it's important to make a good impression, even via email.  The impression you make can determine if someone will do business with you - or not.  Here are some do's and don'ts:

  1. Always use a greeting, "Hi", "Hello", "Dear" etc.
  2. Subject should reflect your message.
  3. Change the subject if the topic of your thread changes.
  4. DON'T USE ALL UPPERCASE, that is the equivalent of yelling.
  5. Sarcasm doesn't translate well, unless you know the person extremely well.
  6. Formatting your emails sparingly.  Placing a lot of bold, italicized or underlined words can be annoying.
  7. Don't use a long or busy signature.
  8. Never forward virus warnings, jokes, chain letters or any other email unless the person has requested you to do so.
  9. Reread every e-mail before you send it! If you mention an attachment, make sure it's attached.
  10. Check and make sure you are sending it to the correct person.

Spy SweeperThe iPhone
Apple has been talking about the
iPhone since 2004...and it's finally available.  Sooo....what's so special about this phone?  It's sooo much more than a phone.   Not only can you make phone calls, but you can email, access the Internet, view pictures and videos, open PDF's, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets.  It can also be sync'd to Windows!

It has a sleek minimalistic design, 3.5" display, and fantastic screen resolution.   There are two built-in sensors that smart phone users will appreciate.....the first is the proximity sensor, which prevents you from inadvertently hitting the screen while it is pressed against your ear, by turning off the display when your ear is less than an inch away.  The second is the orientation sensor, which allows you to view your web browser or pictures in either landscape or portrait view by simply turning the iPhone.  .

It has 16 applications (weather, maps, text msg, notes, etc) that can be started with just a touch of the screen.  Speaking of the screen, the device is small enough to fit in your pocket, so you might wonder about damage to the screen.  It is made of a highly durable material that is scratchproof.  Many have tried, but have been unable to scratch the screen surface.

On the downside, it's been reported that the speakerphone is quiet and difficult to hear, it lacks voice dialing feature, and overall is difficult to use while driving.  Oh, and you have to use AT&T for your cell service.

So while it may be a mediocre cell phone, it rates high as an all around mobile media device.

Spy SweeperIf you leave your pc on all the time, it's a good idea to reboot once a week.  This will force the memory to reset and help keep it performing at its best.
