The holidays are officially here!  From now until the New Year it will be non-stop shopping, parties, eating, wrapping, spending and overdosing on family.  Sounds like fun, doesn't it?!

A few notes for our clients, we will be closed on Dec 24th and 25th..and we hope you are taking those days off as well!  The best way to get a ticket opened is to email us at support@network-it.net or call us at 860-345-7440. And lastly, please let us know if there's a way we can make things run more smoothly for you during this busy time.   And for those of you who aren't clients yet......why not??

 Here We Grow Again...

It is our pleasure to introduce the newest member of our staff, Ken Mewes.  The addition of Ken provides Network-IT with a dedicated staff member to work with clients and future clients to understand business needs, and ensure we provide the right solutions from a technology standpoint to meet those needs.

While we've always prided ourselves on being a trusted advisor to our clients, having Ken on staff ensures we have the resources necessary to be more proactive in this role.

Ken comes to us from a long history of working in Information Technology, most notably in the area of IT research. His IT research background gives him the breadth of knowledge necessary to work effectively with business owners in defining solutions for their business challenges.

RSS

What is it?  Do I need it?  Do I want it?  RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication".  Which is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content on the web such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed", contains a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner rather than checking them manually.

RSS content can be read using software called an "RSS reader", or a "feed reader"....and now Outlook 2007. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The reader automatically checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.

So whether you're interested in the news, your favorite sports team, politics or a host of other topics an RSS feed will help you keep you informed.  The orange icon (seen at the beginning of this article) on a website indicates an RSS feed is available.

Outlook 2007

Outlook didn't get the radical makeover that Word and Excel did.  But the changes to Outlook 2007 are all positive and provide new tools to help users manage their time and information. Using the To-Do Bar, and Instant Search, you can organize and quickly locate the information that you need. You can now easily "flag" a message for follow-up with a right click and it automatically becomes a task.  Categories are now color coded and easy to see at-a-glance which category an email has been assigned to.  Through new calendar publishing and sharing capabilities, and electronic business cards, you can more safely share any data stored in Office Outlook 2007 with coworkers, friends, and family, no matter where they are located.

Initially you may need to take some time to find your way around and to locate the new features.  Here are some resources:
