Plant a tree and offset the CO2

green
In January of 2007 Dell partnered with the Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org and launched its "Plant a tree for me" program.  The goal being to offset the CO2 emissions expected to be released by each computer and or monitor.  100% of the money is used towards the planting of trees.  Will one tree really make a difference?  Yes, over an average 70 year lifespan of a tree, it will trap approximately 1.3 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. That is roughly the emissions that would result from a road trip from Maine to California. Which more than offsets the carbon emitted from the production of electricity used to power a computer during its average life span.  The cost to offset the carbon footprint of your system is: $6 for a desktop, $4 for a CRT monitor, $4 for a laser printer, $3 for an LCD monitor, $2 for a laptop.  When placing an order with us, please let us know if you'd like to offset the CO2 for your purchase.

If there is a topic of interest that you would like to see covered in a future newsletter, send me your ideas.
