Hi,
Suddenly - its fall, and time to get
back to work. Not that we didn't
work during the summer. It's just
that fall, for most small
businesses, is a much more
important, busier and hectic
season. Fall is also the time
for pumpkins, leaf peeping, and
apple picking....oh, I mean... trade
shows, conferences and conventions.
No matter what's filling your
calendar this season, this
newsletter has a few things to help
you save time.

Live traffic images in Hartford on your
smartphone |
 Traveling
in Hartford can be tricky, but a new
free cell phone application with live
video traffic updates is helping drivers
steer clear of trouble spots. New
York-based 3rd Dimension Inc. has
unveiled its real-time traffic reports
in Hartford in a partnership with NBC
30. The application is downloaded to a
mobile phone, and gives users access to
12 streaming cameras in the city and
over 250 DOT cameras long I-84 and I-91.
The free application generates its
revenue from advertisements, which pop
up each time a user accesses a different
camera. The ads appear while the camera
image loads, averaging between 2and 5
seconds. The application is compatible
with 125 data-enabled phone models,
including BlackBerry and the iPhone. Go
to the
NBC 30 Connecticut Traffic Camera site
to get the application or to learn
more.

Are you LinkedIn yet? |
The mantra of all career counselors
is to "build a network".
LinkedIn is based on the idea of six
degrees of separation and allows you
to build your network via
introductions from your contacts and
their contacts- and all of this
online. MySpace and Facebook are
popular social networking sites that
you've probably heard of, but the
sites that focus solely on business
are being used in record numbers.
LinkedIn is one such site, which
currently reports having reached 27
million users at the beginning of
September, and a new member joining
every two seconds. Are you LinkedIn
yet?

LinkedIn could help your
